Toolcraft: Explores the Distinctions: CNC Lathe vs. CNC Mill

As stated by APEC USA, CNC lathes and CNC mills both utilize digital pre-programmed plans to craft objects from various materials. While CNC milling and CNC turning (performed on a CNC lathe) share similarities, they also exhibit key differences, making each machine ideal for specific parts.

The primary distinction lies in the rotation of the machine and the workpiece. In a CNC lathe, the workpiece or bar stock rotates against the cutting tools, shaping the material. On the other hand, a CNC mill rotates the cutting tools around the stationary bar stock, enabling precise cuts and shaping with efficiency.
